Partners in Play
Membership has its benefits. In an exciting new partnership, members of CPA’s Paediatric Division will receive a free subscription to Play to Podium magazine from Disability Today Publishing (DTP) starting this spring. “This is a great opportunity and one I am happy to endorse,” comments Lucie Pelland, Chair of the Paediatric Division.
For 20 years, DTP has served as a leader in the disability community. Focusing on active living, the Ontario-based company has steadily redefined what physical activity means for those with disabilities.
As we know, physical activity is central to a healthy body and mind. In schoolyards, backyards or community parks, participation in sports, recreational and leisure activities – with its physical, psychological and social benefits – is essential for kids with disabilities too.
DTP launched Play to Podium magazine last year to help parents and professionals achieve their activity goals for kids with special needs, and to help youth discover their potential through adapted physical activities of all kinds.
“All kids should have the chance to reach for their dreams and achieve their personal podium, whatever that may be. There’s always a way to play,” remarks publisher Jeff Tiessen, a bi-lateral arm amputee. He would know. After returning to hockey and other sports after his childhood injury, he reached the podium three times as a Paralympic athlete.
Students and physiotherapists from other divisions are welcome to the complimentary subscription as well. Simply email your request (and address) to jeff@play2podium.com. Multiple copies are available for distribution to client families upon request as well.
